Gilbert’s round-tripper lands on the roof of the ice house beyond the right-field fence, and one of Sawatski’s blows lands on the very back of the ice house roof.

Gilbert’s ninth round-tripper lands on the roof of the ice house beyond the right-field fence, and one of Sawatski’s blows lands on the very back of the ice house roof. He hit a long foul ball in the same vicinity before slugging the next pitch for his first homer. With singles to go with his two homers, Sawatski increases his batting average to .405 and raises his home run total to 18.
“He might his 50,” general manager Larry Gilbert told Nashville Tennessean sportswriter Raymond Johnson.
Bob Borkowski plays all three outfield positions in tonight’s game in unusual circumstances. He started in left, then moved to center when Paul Mauldin was ejected for arguing a foul ball. Borkowski took Babe Barna’s position in right when Barna was lifted in the eighth to rest his bad ankle.
